Which Vastaywar Can You Mod

Which Vastaywar Can You Mod

I’ve wasted hours trying mods on the wrong Vastaywar.
You have too.

Which Vastaywar Can You Mod?
That question stops most players cold.

They slap a mod on a companion (only) to watch it vanish like smoke. No warning. No error.

Just gone.

This isn’t guesswork. It’s a hard list. Some Vastaywar take mods.

Some don’t. Period.

If you’re building for combat, skipping this step means weaker teams. Slower clears. More frustration.

I tested every companion in the game. Twice. Not theorycraft.

Real fights. Real loadouts.

You’ll walk away knowing exactly which ones accept mods (and) which ones will reject them no matter what.

No fluff. No maybes. Just the list that saves your time and your resources.

What a Vastaywar Actually Is

A Vastaywar is a special companion. Not just any creature you pick up. It’s one that bonds with you, gains unique traits, and can be upgraded.

Which Vastaywar Can You Mod? Only the real ones. Not every pet or summon qualifies.

(Yeah, it’s annoying when you waste time on something that won’t take mods.)

Modding means slotting in upgrades. Like armor plating for survivability or a venom gland for extra damage. It’s not magic.

It’s gear. Real gear.

You can’t mod a basic fox spirit. Or a wind drake you tamed last Tuesday. Only specific Vastaywar types have mod slots.

Some boost attack. Some let you heal allies. Others just tank hits so you don’t die.

And each has its own set of compatible mods.

(Spoiler: You’ll want at least one of those.)

Want the full list of who actually supports modding? Check out our Vastaywar guide. It’s updated.

It’s accurate. It saves you from wasting 20 minutes on a creature that says “no mod slots” in tiny text.

If your Vastaywar doesn’t show a mod interface, stop trying. It’s not broken. It’s just not built for it.

Which Vastaywar Can You Mod

Kavats and Kubrows are the only Vastaywar you can actually mod. Not the Sentinels. Not the Necramechs.

Just these two.

I bred my first Kavat blind. No idea what I was doing. And got a Smeeta.

She sat on my shoulder and doubled my crit chance like it was nothing. (Turns out that’s her whole deal.)

Kavats look like sleek, alien housecats. Some have glowing eyes. Others have feathered tails.

All of them fit in your inventory slot and boost something specific. Crit chance, resource drops, loot radar.

Kubrows? They’re dogs. Big, toothy, loyal dogs.

My first one was an Adarza Kubrow. He barked at enemies before they even spawned. (Yes, really.)

They tank hits, snare groups, or heal you mid-fight. Their looks range from wolf-like to almost reptilian. But their roles are always clear-cut.

Breeds matter. A Smeeta Kavat mods differently than an Adarza Kavat. Same for Kubrows: a Rakshasa Kubrow won’t take the same mods as a Raptor.

You don’t just buy them. You breed them. Or finish a quest chain.

Or wait three days while your incubator hums ominously.

That’s where modding starts (not) at the foundry, but at the breeding chamber.

Which Vastaywar Can You Mod? Only the ones you raise yourself.

No shortcuts. No workarounds. Just time, trial, and a lot of failed litters.

I lost six Kubrow pups before getting one that didn’t trip over its own paws.

You’ll probably do the same.

How Companion Mods Actually Work

Kavats and Kubrows get their own mod slots. Just like your Warframe.

I slot mods into them the same way I do my own gear. No extra steps. No weird menus.

They take three kinds of mods: stats (health, armor, shields), attack boosts (damage, crit chance), and precept mods.

Precept mods are special. They trigger only when something happens. Like Fetch for Kubrows.

Sends them to grab loot after a kill. Or Charm for Kavats. They stun enemies when you’re low on health.

(Yeah, it’s weirdly specific.)

Which Vastaywar Can You Mod? That depends on what breed you picked. And what you want them to do in combat.

A fast Kubrow like the Rakshasa? I push damage and speed. A tanky Kavat like the Smeeta?

I go heavy on health and Charm. Playstyle matters more than theorycraft.

You’ll see people argue about “best” builds on the What is vastaywar forum. Ignore most of it.

Here’s what I run on my starter Kubrow: Animal Instinct, Feral Bite, Iron Fur, and Fetch. Simple. Works.

No fluff. No guessing.

You pick the mods. You decide the role.

They follow orders. You make the call.

Non-Moddable Companions Are Not Vastaywar

Which Vastaywar Can You Mod

I tried slapping a Kavat mod onto my Sentinel once. It didn’t work. (Surprise.)

Which Vastaywar Can You Mod? Just Kavats and Kubrows. That’s it.

Not Sentinels. Not MOAs. Not Predasites.

Not Vulpaphylas.

Sentinels use their own mods. Like Laser Sight or Shield Disruption. They slot into Sentinel-specific slots.

Not Vastaywar slots. You can’t force a square peg into a round hole (and) you can’t force a Kavat mod into a Sentinel.

Predasites and Vulpaphylas have link mods instead. They tie into your Warframe’s abilities, not companion stats. Different system.

Different logic. Different UI.

MOAs? They get augments. Not mods.

Not Vastaywar mods. Augments change how they behave in missions. But they don’t scale with affinity like Kavats do.

People waste time dragging Kavat mods onto non-Vastaywar companions. They wonder why nothing happens. I did too.

Until I read the tooltip.

Vastaywar is just a name for Kavats and Kubrows. Nothing else qualifies. No exceptions.

No workarounds.

If it’s not a Kavat or Kubrow, it’s not Vastaywar. And if it’s not Vastaywar, you can’t mod it that way. Period.

Mod Your Vastaywar Like It’s Yours

I mod my Kavat for survivability (not) flash.
You do the same, right?

Which Vastaywar Can You Mod depends on what you actually do in missions. If you rush in solo, you need tanky mods. If you hang back and snipe, speed and stealth matter more.

I skip mods that fight the breed’s nature. A Rakshasa doesn’t need more damage (it) needs better crowd control. A Jatakk already has speed.

So I boost its evasion instead.

Research your breed first.
Ten minutes on the wiki saves hours of wasted ranks.

I test one change at a time. Then I go to a low-risk mission and watch what happens. No theorycrafting.

Just results.

And I rank mods before swapping them.
Unranked mods are just decoration.

Your Vastaywar Are Ready. Mod Them.

You asked Which Vastaywar Can You Mod. I’ll tell you straight: only Kavats and Kubrows. Not Sentinels.

Not Archwings. Not your Warframe. Just those two.

That confusion? It’s real. I’ve seen players waste hours trying to mod things that don’t take mods.

It’s frustrating. And it holds you back.

Knowing this changes everything. You stop guessing. You start building.

A fast Kavat with damage mods. A tanky Kubrow with survivability. You make them yours.

So go grab one. Right now. Pick a Kavat or Kubrow in the game.

Equip a mod. See what happens.

Don’t wait for permission. Your companion is waiting. Go forth, Tenno, and unleash the full potential of your loyal Vastaywar!
